Kakalistiq.com reports that both the Ijanikin and Noforija-Epe Campus of the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) was enveloped in mourning today following the untimely demise of a revered academic staff member, Mr. Adesanya Adebisi Joseph.

In a heartfelt statement released by the LASUED Secretary of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Comrade Jamal Apena, the union conveyed the profound sorrow shared by all. “With sadness and heavy hearts, ASUU LASUED announces the sudden death of Mr. Adesanya Adebisi Joseph, who passed away at 3 am on Sunday, July 7, 2024, after a brief illness,” the statement read.

Mr. Adesanya, affectionately known as A.J., was a dedicated lecturer in the Department of Human Kinetics and Health Education. He previously served as the Head of the Department of Physical and Health Education at the Legacy College, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education, Noforija, Epe. His commitment to education and his students has left an indelible mark on the institution.

The university community is in deep mourning, with academic staff sharing their condolences and tributes through the LASUED Social WhatsApp platform. These messages of sorrow and remembrance highlight the significant impact Mr. Adesanya had on those around him.

One staff member shared, “The news of your demise came as a very rude shock. Our hearts bleed at your sudden exit as you will be greatly missed. May your gentle soul rest in perfect peace.”

Another expressed, “What a loss. I pray that his soul will rest in peace. Amen.”

“It’s so saddening and painful. May God comfort and console those he left behind,” mourned a colleague.

“Praying that his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen,” another prayed.

“May Almighty God accept his soul, grant him eternal rest, and count him amongst the saints. Amen,” a staff mourned.

Many echoed the sentiments of deep loss and extended prayers for comfort and strength for Mr. Adesanya’s family, friends, and colleagues. One poignant message read, “Lord Jesus, please comfort his family and every one of us.”

Another reflected on the inevitable end of human life, quoting scripture: “The word of the Lord says, ‘two people will be in the field. One will be taken and one will be left behind’ (Matthew 24:40). May all his shortcomings be forgiven. Rest in perfect peace, my brother.”

“Inna lillahi wa inna ilahi rojihun! What a loss. May God comfort and console those he left behind,” was the sombre message from a grieving colleague.

The profound impact of Mr. Adesanya’s life and work was evident in the many heartfelt tributes shared. His legacy will continue to inspire and influence the LASUED community for years to come. As one colleague aptly put it, “Wow! This is too painful. May God grant him eternal rest and give the family, friends, and colleagues the fortitude to bear the loss.”
