In a significant step toward enhancing security infrastructure in Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), kakalistiq.com reports that the Executive Chairman Akogun Wale Raji Anomo laid the foundation for the construction of Officers’ Quarters at Ketu-Ereyun Police Station on Monday, September 30, 2024. The initiative, aimed at improving police welfare, is expected to strengthen security within the community.
The groundbreaking ceremony drew a notable crowd of community leaders and stakeholders, including the Council Manager, Mr. Awobajo Sunday, the Regent of Ketu, High-Chief Adewale Badru, and several other prominent figures. Among those present were Hon. Anthony Ajewole, Chief Mrs. S.B. Adekoya, Alhaji Wasiu Bakare, Hon. Miniru Temitope, as well as members of the Ikosi-Ejinrin executive council and legislative representatives.
During the ceremony, Akogun Wale Anomo underscored the importance of the project for local law enforcement. “As a Council, we are committed to making it easier for security officials to carry out their responsibilities. Their comfort directly impacts the safety of our people, and we must ensure they have the necessary resources to serve with efficiency,” Anomo said. He also revealed that a similar initiative will begin at the Agbowa Police Station once the Ketu-Ereyun project is completed.
The council’s commitment to supporting local police efforts extends beyond the construction of quarters. Recently, 3.5KvA generators were donated to both Ketu-Ereyun and Agbowa police stations to address power shortages that had hampered police operations.
CSP Idungafa Nsidibe, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ketu-Ereyun, expressed his gratitude to the Chairman, noting the impact of the project on officer morale. “This gesture will undoubtedly enhance the productivity of the officers. On behalf of the entire force, I assure you that we will reciprocate this kindness by delivering efficient and effective service to the community,” he said.
With Akogun Wale Anomo’s ongoing efforts to improve police working conditions, the project is poised to create a lasting positive effect on security in the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
