Epe Central Mosque (Ita-Opo) Sets February 10th as Grand Turbaning Ceremony of New Chief Imam.

Excitement brews in Epe as the Epe Central Mosque, Ita-Opo, announces the finalization of arrangements for the turbaning of the newly appointed Chief Imam, Sheikh Abdulkabir Oriyomi Shamradeen. This significant ceremony follows the deposition of the erstwhile Imam, Alhaji Abdullateef Oladapo, who relinquished his title several months ago amidst various allegations.

The highly anticipated turbaning event is slated to take place on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Epe Recreational Ground. The occasion is expected to draw a distinguished crowd, including prominent figures in the ancient town, traditional chiefs, political leaders, and esteemed members of the Islamic community.

Chief Imam Fadhilat Sheikh Oriyomi Abdulkabir Shamradeen, expressing gratitude for the esteemed position, acknowledged the role of divine providence in assuming the leadership role. Hailing from Etitun (the Jagun family of Oke-Iposu) and Eyindi quarters in Epe, he attributed his success to the support of Allah, the Almighty, and expressed appreciation for the backing of the Oloja of Epe land, HRM Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, APC leader Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki (Bamu), and Epe Local Government Executive Chairman Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun.

“Also, all sons and daughters of Epe land who want new things to happen in the land. My sincere advice is that we all need to put Allah first in all we do so that we can all enjoy His goodies in the near future,” he added.

Alhaji Ibrahim Badrudeen Olanrewaju, the Arowaasi of Epe land and Imam of Idera Mosque, Epe, urged unity and support for the new Chief Imam, emphasizing that the decision to install him was a joint effort of both Islamic and traditional chiefs for enduring peace in the ancient town.

He called on all aggrieved parties to embrace harmony and peace, highlighting the importance of collective effort for the development and growth of the Epe Division. Alhaji Ibrahim Badrudeen Olanrewaju assured the public that the coronation ceremony would be a peaceful and harmonious event, free from acrimonious activities.

The town eagerly anticipates the dawn of a new era under the leadership of Chief Imam Sheikh Abdulkabir Oriyomi Shamradeen.
