kakalistiq.com reports that the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), Dr. Shittu Hakeem Babatunde, has been honoured with the prestigious Noble Award for Education Development by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Lagos State Wing.
The award presentation took place during the 3rd Michael Alogba Olukoya Annual Lecture and Award Series, held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the NUT Pavilion, Ikeja.
According to the organizers, the award is in recognition of Dr. Shittu’s outstanding contributions to the development of Basic Education and a testament to his unwavering commitment to championing teachers’ welfare and fostering innovation in public primary schools across Lagos State.
In a brief interview after receiving the award, Dr. Shittu expressed gratitude to the teaching community for the recognition and reaffirmed his resolve to continue delivering impactful reforms.
“This award is not just an honour to me personally, but a call to do more,” Dr. Shittu said. “Our children deserve the best foundation, and our teachers deserve the best support. We will not relent in raising the bar for quality and inclusive basic education in Lagos.”
He added, “At LASUBEB, we are committed to innovative teaching methods, teacher training, improved infrastructure, and community engagement. This recognition strengthens our resolve to work even harder for every Lagos child.”
