kakalistiq.com reports that Professor Morufudeen Adeniyi Shittu has emerged as the substantive Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), marking a new milestone in the university’s leadership journey.

In an appreciation message to the university community today, Prof. Shittu expressed deep gratitude to God and thanked the Senate, management, and entire LASUED community for their support and confidence in his ability to serve.
“With profound humility and a heart overflowing with gratitude, I begin by thanking Almighty God, the Most Gracious and Most Merciful, for granting me the strength, wisdom, and opportunity serving our great institution. Without His divine guidance, none of these would be possible,” he said.
Prof. Shittu described the opportunity to serve as the pioneer substantive DVC (Administration) as both a privilege and a responsibility, acknowledging the trust placed in him by colleagues across the university.
“I wish to extend my sincerest appreciation to every member of our great University community for the overwhelming support, encouragement, and goodwill that has accompanied this declaration to serve as the pioneer substantive Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of our great university.
Your words of counsel, prayers, and unwavering confidence in my capacity to contribute to the continuous growth of our LASUED are deeply inspiring. It is with this collective spirit of unity and shared purpose that I accept the privilege and responsibility that this moment places before us.”
He paid special tribute to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Bilkis Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, for her support and leadership throughout the process.

“My heartfelt appreciation also goes to our highly esteemed Vice-Chancellor; Professor Bilkis Bidemi LAFIAJI-OKUNEYE whose unwavering support, exceptional leadership, and remarkable openness to this process have set a tone of transparency, fairness, and collective progress. Prof. Shittu also acknowledged Professor Melekeowei Premobowei Dele for his spirit of collegiality and statesmanship, following his decision to withdraw from the contest.
“I must in particular, acknowledge and commend my esteemed colleague and respected scholar, Professor Melekeowei Premobowei Dele, whose magnanimous decision to graciously withdraw from the contest reflects an uncommon spirit of collegiality, sacrifice, and genuine commitment to the stability and progress of our beloved institution. Such leadership by example is a testament to the culture of mutual respect and academic maturity that defines LASUED.”
Looking ahead, the new DVC pledged to work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and the university’s governing bodies to build on the achievements of the institution and further its growth.
