In a deeply emotional statement on Sunday, Tobun expressed heartfelt condolences to the Adewale Royal Family and the entire Eko-Epe community, describing the late monarch as “a rare breed of royal leadership and a father to all.”

“I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our father, Kabiesi Oba Shefiu Adewale,” Tobun said. “He was not just a king to me, he was a mentor, a father figure, and a man whose wisdom and humility commanded respect far beyond the throne he occupied.”

Hon. Abiodun Tobun

The late Oba Shefiu Adewale, who was crowned the 19th Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom in 2010, died on Saturday after a lifetime of public service and traditional stewardship. Prior to ascending the throne, he served meritoriously in the Lagos State Civil Service, culminating his career as Director in the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Executive Secretary in the Ministry of Lands respectively. His transition from public administrator to royal father was marked by the same discipline and devotion that defined his career.

“Kabiesi exemplified selfless leadership,” Tobun noted. “He was a true disciplinarian, firm but fair, and he led with uncommon grace. His life was a testimony of duty, dignity, and spiritual reverence.”

The lawmaker acknowledged the pain of the monarch’s death at a time when the nation, and particularly Epe, needs voices of wisdom and unity. Yet, he urged the community to take solace in the life the monarch lived and the legacy he leaves behind.

“His death is a great loss, especially at this critical period in our national journey,” Tobun lamented. “But we are mere mortals; we cannot question the Giver and Taker of life. We can only pray that Almighty Allah grants Kabiesi eternal rest and Aljanat Firdous.”

As the Eko-Epe community bids farewell to one of its most distinguished sons, Tobun extended his prayers and sympathy to the royal household and the entire kingdom.

“To the Adewale Royal Family and every son and daughter of Epe, I say: be comforted. You shared your father, your king, your pillar with us all, and we are forever grateful. May you know no further sorrow.”

HRM Oba Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa’s reign will be remembered not only for its stability and vision but also for his unwavering commitment to the religious, cultural and moral development of his people. His voice may be gone, but the echo of his values will remain.
