A Note of Gratitude: Celebrating the Youth Influencer of the Year Award

Dear friends, supporters, and the incredible Epe Division community,

I am overwhelmed with gratitude as I humbly acknowledge the prestigious Youth Influencer of the Year award from the Epe Division Community Annual Awards (EDCAA), organized by the Concerned Nationbuilder Initiative (CNI). This recognition goes beyond a personal achievement; it is a celebration of the remarkable journey that we have embarked on together.

From the early days of curiosity planted in the classroom to the dynamic world of tertiary education, my path has been shaped by the seeds of passion sown in extracurricular activities. It began with school plays and clubs, enriching my academic experience and fostering a flame for community engagement.

As I transitioned into the tertiary landscape, my involvement expanded beyond the classroom, revealing the profound impact of extracurricular activities on character and resilience. Becoming a teacher, I recognized the transformative potential that extends beyond textbooks, evolving into a community growth enthusiast.

Unexpectedly, my journey led me into the realm of journalism—an accidental journalist reporting on community stories. In each interview and every written piece, I found a powerful medium to amplify voices, share narratives, and inspire change. This award is a testament to the mosaic of experiences that shape influence and the belief that it is not confined to one path.

In this heartfelt acknowledgment, I express my deepest gratitude to my parents, Engineer and Mrs. Kaka, whose unwavering support and guidance laid the foundation for all that I have achieved. Your ideal home has been the hallmark of my growth and success.

To the teachers and mentors who planted the seeds, the communities that fueled my passion, and the unforeseen turns that led me here, thank you. This award is a tribute to your impact. I extend my appreciation to the administrative leadership at Odo-Obara High School, particularly Elder OS Adeyemi and Mrs. Itiolu, Mrs. Aransiola (Adebambo), and Mr. Adesanya MT, the Press Club Coordinators. Their sagacity and creative dexterity, alongside the phenomenal Comrade Jamal Apena of the CCA department in MOCPED, have played pivotal roles in shaping my journey, and for that, I doff my hats to them.

A special mention goes to Mr. Osifeko Mark Olaniyi, my number one motivator in community services. Observing his numerous activities in the community via Facebook inspired me, and I am grateful to have become his mentee. I also extend my gratitude to Mr. Idris Olukoya, the Director General of CNI, for trusting in my ability to transition from a minute-of-the-meeting writer to a news reporter and volunteer.

A heartfelt thank you goes to Otunba TJ Abass of the Universe, the publisher of Eko Hot Blog, my former boss, mentor, and benefactor. Under your tutelage, I have thrived, and I am genuinely thankful for the opportunities you’ve provided.

This appreciation wouldn’t be complete without acknowledging the incredible support of my adorable wife, Iya Ibeji, whose perseverance and sacrifices have been a pillar of strength as we work together for the community.

I also want to express my gratitude to my colleagues, bosses, and students at MOCPED, LASUED, EKSU, UI, and all the supporters across the globe who rallied behind me during the contest, polling a stunning 1764 votes. Thank you all for your unwavering support.

I share this award with the youth, urging you to embrace the unexpected, explore beyond your comfort zones, and let every experience be a stepping stone toward your unique path of influence. Let us, as architects of positive change, continue to weave stories that resonate with the heartbeat of progress. This incredible honor inspires me to redouble my commitment to community, education, and the transformative power of media.

With heartfelt thanks,

Mr. Kaka Babatunde,
