In a decisive move to combat power outages in Eredo LCDA, particularly those caused by vandalism, the Executive Chairman of Eredo LCDA, kakalistiq.com reports that Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye has issued a stern call for community cooperation in safeguarding energy infrastructure. Speaking during a high-level meeting with the leadership of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) on Monday, December 2, 2024, Hon. Akinloye reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to restoring electricity and improving residents’ quality of life.
Addressing the residents of Epe Federal Constituency, Hon. Akinloye emphasized the detrimental impact of sabotaging energy infrastructure. “Public infrastructure is the foundation of our development. Protecting it is a shared responsibility,” he stated, urging citizens to desist from damaging government property for personal or political motives.
He highlighted that such acts undermine progress, delay development, and adversely affect the socioeconomic well-being of the entire community. “When we protect our infrastructure, we invest in the future of our community and its economic growth,” he noted.
Hon. Akinloye disclosed that the council had completed all requirements to facilitate immediate power restoration. He assured residents that electricity would be fully reinstated by Friday, December 6, 2024. “We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure Eredo LCDA enjoys a steady power supply again,” he promised.
To prevent further vandalism, the council has initiated a collaborative security effort. Hon. Akinloye convened a strategic meeting with critical stakeholders, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Army, the Muwon Vigilante Group, the Eredo Security Forum, and other security organizations. This coalition will focus on protecting electricity cables and other essential assets from theft or sabotage.
Hon. Akinloye underscored the significance of community involvement in this mission, stating, “Safeguarding energy infrastructure is not just the job of security agencies; it requires the vigilance and cooperation of every resident.”
The chairman also emphasized the far-reaching effects of energy security on socio-economic development in Eredo LCDA and the broader Epe town. Reliable electricity fosters business growth, supports education, enhances healthcare delivery, and elevates the overall quality of life. “Protecting our energy infrastructure is critical for sustaining development and creating opportunities for everyone,” he averred.
This proactive engagement underscores Hon. Akinloye’s dedication to fostering development, security, and unity within Eredo LCDA. He called on residents to support the council’s efforts, remain vigilant against sabotage, and exercise patience as the administration works to resolve the power crisis. “Together, we can create a community where infrastructure serves its purpose, development thrives, and security prevails,” Hon. Akinloye concluded, urging all residents to be partners in progress.
