Late Mr. A.A Adeyeye

The fatal accident occurred at approximately 8:45 PM when an 18-seater bus carrying teachers from a state audit verification exercise in Ikeja collided head-on with a trailer driving against traffic.

The crash claimed the life of Mr. Adeyeye A.A, a Basic Technology teacher from Pobuna Junior Secondary Grammar School, Epe, who was laid to rest at his Vanguards Academy residence today. Among the injured were a nursing mother and her infant, along with 14 other teachers now receiving intensive care.

Hon. Agbaje extended gratitude to the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Epe branch), Epe General Hospital staff, and community members who swiftly intervened to provide first aid and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.

“Their immediate response saved lives and ensured critical care was administered promptly. This shows the strength of our community during times of crisis,” Hon. Agbaje noted.

Hon. Agbaje, while commending the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun for paying condolence visit in solidarity with teachers at the hospital, expressed condolences to the bereaved family and stressed the need for collective efforts to prevent similar tragedies.

“This devastating loss is a wake-up call for us all. We must advocate for safer roads and improved welfare for our teachers. TESCOM is committed to ensuring that such incidents are not repeated,” he said.

He concluded with prayers for the swift recovery of the injured and reiterated the Commission’s unwavering support for all affected families.

The tragic loss of Mr. Adeyeye is a significant blow to the education sector and the Epe community. In his memory, TESCOM urged stakeholders to push for better road safety measures and continued welfare improvements for educators across Lagos State.
