Donors Applauded as LASUBEB Chairman Commissions Library, Resource Centre in Lagos.

kakalistiq.com reports that the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB), in a heartwarming show of public-private partnership aimed at boosting basic education, has commissioned a fully renovated Library and Resource Centre at All Saints Primary School, Montgomery Road, Yaba.

The project, located under the Mainland Local Government Education Authority, was donated by the Giwa family in honour of their late patriarch, Pa Abu Bakare Giwa, and his son, Pa Abdul Lateef Giwa, both remembered for their tireless advocacy for grassroots education.

Dr. Hakeem Babatunde Shittu, Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, who led the commissioning, praised the Giwa family for what he described as a meaningful contribution to education and community development. He said the project reflects the kind of collaborative effort needed to uplift public schools across the state.

“This initiative is not just a renovation; it is a legacy of love, service to humanity and community investment,” Dr. Shittu remarked. “The Lagos State Government deeply appreciates this contribution, which aligns with our mission to improve infrastructure, expand access, and foster inclusive education across the State.”

He also assured that LASUBEB will ensure the facility is well maintained and effectively used. Dr. Shittu further encouraged other families and community stakeholders to support similar efforts that can improve the quality of education in their local areas.

Speaking during the commissioning and handover event, Mrs. Ladun Craig, daughter of Pa Abu Bakare Giwa, explained that the initiative was her family’s way of keeping the legacy of their father alive. She noted that her father, a former Chairman of the school’s Parent Forum, dedicated his life to making sure every child, regardless of their background or situation, had access to basic education.

“My father believed strongly in the power of education to change lives. He worked tirelessly to ensure that children in the vicinity had access to basic education, even when resources were scarce,” she said.

The newly revamped Library and Resource Centre now boasts modern facilities, including up-to-date learning materials and inclusive educational tools that cater to children with various learning needs.
