kakalistiq.com reports that the Office of the Grand Chief Imam and President General of the League of Imams and Alfas, Epe Division, has announced that this year’s Eid-el-Kabir prayer will take place today at 9:00 AM.

Muslim faithful across Epe and beyond are encouraged to arrive early to ensure an orderly congregation and to fully experience the spiritual significance of the day.
In a statement released by the office yesterday afternoon, the community was assured that both Eid and Jumu’ah prayers will go ahead as they have since 1852, at the historic Eid prayer ground and the iconic First Epe Central Mosque in Okebalogun. The mosque, a symbol of Epe’s deep-rooted Islamic heritage, remains a spiritual home for generations of worshippers.
“Our forefathers began this cherished act of Ibadah here, and by Allah’s grace, nothing will deter us from maintaining this sacred tradition,” the statement read.
To maintain peace during the celebration, the government has issued a directive that both contenders for the Olu-Epe title should refrain from attending the Eid and Jumu’ah prayers. The move, officials say, is a preventive measure aimed at avoiding potential conflict or disruption during the religious gathering.
Community members have also been reassured of their safety. Organizers confirmed that adequate security measures have been put in place in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, ensuring that worshippers can perform their religious rites in a peaceful environment.
“Epe remains the undisputed citadel of Islamic heritage, Epe Alali-Qurani. We are committed to preserving the unity, values, and faith that bind us together,” the statement concluded.
On behalf of the Muslim Ummah in Epe, the office extended warm wishes for a joyful and spiritually enriching Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
