kakalistiq.com reports that the serene ocean-view residence of the Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Shefiu Adewale Bamgbopa Eshilokun I, was the scene of elegance, pomp, and reflection on Saturday, January 5, 2025. The occasion? A celebration of life, legacy, and gratitude as Olori Mulikat Adewale, the Olori Olu-Epe of Epe Kingdom, joyously marked her 80th birthday.
Amidst mirthful reflections and a cascade of well-wishes, the crème de la crème of society gathered to honor a woman whose virtues and resilience have left indelible marks on her community. Notable attendees included Alhaji Akanni Seriki Bamu, a Lagos GAC member; the Okanlomo of Epe Kingdom, Alhaji Abiola Anifowoshe; former LASUED Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nosiru Onibon; Otunba Dengel Anifowoshe, the Akinrogun of Epe Kingdom; LASUBEB Chairman, Dr. Hakeem Shittu; the Council of Oloris in Epe Division, and many others.
In an emotional interview, Olori Adewale, surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, expressed her gratitude for reaching this significant milestone. “I feel on top of the world because 80 years is not a joke. I’ve been through a lot of trying times in life. I give thanks to God that I’m happy and in good health to celebrate my 80th birthday,” she said with a radiant smile.
Reflecting on the outpouring of love at her celebration, she added, “I feel honored because my good deeds resulted in the presence of people from all walks of life. If not, they wouldn’t be here.”
When asked about her secret to longevity, Olori Adewale credited her faith, contentment, and generosity. “The secret of my aging is to know one God, be happy, and have contentment with whatever experiences one encounters. If I begin to recount the days of sorrow and pains, time won’t permit us. The best thing is to stay with God and manage whatever one has. One must be nice too. If you have, for instance, 500 naira and give out 300 naira for charity, you won’t know when you’ll graciously have 1,000 naira in your purse as a reward. So, one must be open-handed and be good,” she advised.
The celebrant also reflected on her role as Olori, describing it as “a wonderful experience.” She said, “I thank God that my husband and I have been humble and controversy-free since our ascension to the throne as King and Queen. Our children are great, and we thank God for our grandchildren as well.”
Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representing Epe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, praised the celebrant, describing her as “a mother in millions” and a pillar of the community. Olori is a mother to us all. She is a woman who wishes good for sundry. I pray for her continued success and sound mind at all times,” he said.
Guests, family members, and well-wishers joined in celebrating Olori Adewale, describing her as a mother of uncommon virtues whose acts of kindness and compassion have touched lives far and wide. Her children and grandchildren echoed these sentiments, highlighting her unwavering support and love as a source of strength for their family.
The event underscored the vital roles women play in fostering love, unity, and community development. As a pillar of support to the Olu-Epe, Olori Mulikat Adewale remains a shining example of grace, humility, and benevolence.
