Epe Youth Conference Advocates for Green Skills, Medical Equipment Donation to Epe GH as Ladele Hands Over to Moibi.

In a dynamic display of community engagement and leadership transition, kakalistiq.com reports that the recently concluded Youth Conference organized by the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Epe Local Branch on Friday, December 8, 2023, Epe Youth Conference, tagged “Green Skills for Youth Towards a Sustainable World,” emerged as a powerful platform for advocating green skills and critical healthcare support.

Under the transitional leadership of Ambassador Ladele Ismail, the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Epe passionately called for the donation of essential medical equipment to bolster the capabilities of the Epe General Hospital.

The conference, a blend of spirited advocacy and the ceremonial transition of leadership, underscored the youth’s commitment to actively contribute to the well-being of their local community. Representatives of local government officials, including the Epe Local Government Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun, and other distinguished guests like Hon. Wale Raji, Member, House of Representatives, Epe Federal Constituency; Hon. Abiodun Tobun, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, Epe Constituency I, represented by Hon. Asese; and Hon. Hakeem Shittu, LASUBEB Chairman, represented by Hon. Shittu Idowu (SAICO). Other guests, including Erelu Oba of Epe Land, Chief Iyabo Osifeso, Mr. Victor, Ikeja Electric Manager, and other notable NYCN Epe stakeholders, participated in the event.

Mr. Olayinka Kazeem, a prominent youth stakeholder, underscored the urgency of the appeal during his contribution to the conference theme, emphasizing its potential to save lives beyond the boundaries of Epe Local Government. The focus of the call was directed towards well-meaning individuals to fast-track the acquisition of an electric Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine for the pediatric department of Epe General Hospital.

“The CPAP machine is a respiratory-enhancing device crucial for saving the lives of newborns. While acknowledging the government’s role in healthcare, we believe in our collective responsibility to support our community through corporate social responsibility,” stated Mr. Kazeem.

Apart from medical equipment, the conference highlighted the pressing need for a staff bus for the hospital due to transportation challenges, contributing to the facility’s understaffing issue.

Moderated by Ambassador Giwa Omotomiwa, the conference delved into critical discussions during the panel session themed “Green Skills as a Preventive Measure for Drug Abuse.”  Panelists, including Prince Ademola Adetola, Coordinator of Ejirin Youth Organization (EYO), Comrade Giwa Moshood Olasupo, Mr. Kaka Babatunde, Publisher, Kakalistiq Media, and Alhaja Aminat Shabi, Engine Girls Convener, addressed the importance of green skills in preventing drug abuse.

Earlier, the guest speaker, Mr. Mark Osifeko, eloquently explored the significance of green skills for youth, elucidating the potential benefits. The event concluded with the presentation of awards to deserving personalities and a synopsis of the administration’s scorecard by Comrade Odunare Mahruf, showcasing the achievements of the Ladele Ismail-led administration.

A pivotal moment in the conference was the dissolution of the previous administration by the Chairman of the Lagos branch of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Biliamin Oba. A commendable peaceful election had previously ensued in the council, leading to the inauguration of the new executive committee. This ushered in a new phase of leadership for the NYCN Epe Local Branch, led by Comrade Moibi Ibrahim.
