kakalistiq.com reports that the Epe Division Professional Women Association (EPWA), under the leadership of its president, Mrs. Folakemi Oluyomi-Johnson, has expressed deep sorrow and sympathy over the tragic road accident that claimed the life of a dedicated educator, Mr. Adeyeye A.A, and left 15 others critically injured.
In a heartfelt condolence message released on behalf of the board of trustees, executive council, and members, EPWA acknowledged the profound loss and pain caused by the accident, which occurred on December 30, 2024, along the Odolewu axis of the Epe-Ijebu Ode Expressway.
“This devastating incident is a heartbreaking reminder of the sacrifices our educators make daily in service to the nation,” Mrs. Oluyomi-Johnson stated. “Our thoughts are with the family of Late Mr. Adeyeye and the injured, particularly the women and children impacted by this tragedy.”
Late Mr. Adeyeye, a Basic Technology teacher at Pobuna Junior Grammar School, Epe, was among a group of educators returning from the Lagos State Audit Verification Exercise in Ikeja when their bus collided with a trailer driving in the wrong direction.
“The loss of Mr. Adeyeye is a great blow to our community and a painful reminder of the challenges faced by those who dedicate their lives to building the future of our nation,” EPWA noted in the statement.
The injured, including an expectant mother, a nursing mother and her baby, continue to receive medical care, with EPWA commending the swift intervention of medical personnel and community members.
EPWA highlighted the need for immediate action to improve road safety and protect the lives of educators and other citizens.
“We must collectively advocate for safer roads to prevent such tragedies from recurring,” said Mrs. Oluyomi-Johnson. “As women, we also call for greater compassion and support for the families and colleagues affected by this loss.”
The association concluded with a prayer for the soul of Mr. Adeyeye, strength for his grieving family, and a swift recovery for the injured.
“May the soul of Late Mr. Adeyeye rest in perfect peace, and may those injured find the courage to heal and persevere. EPWA stands in solidarity with all those affected by this tragic event,” the statement concluded.
