kakalistiq.com reports that the Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Ismail Akinloye, has commended the resilience and progress-driven spirit of Community Development Associations (CDAs) within the council.
Speaking through his deputy, Hon. Adesanya Lateef, at the inaugural Community Day celebration held at the Eredo LCDA Secretariat yesterday, Akinloye praised the efforts of various CDAs, emphasizing their pivotal role in fostering unity and driving development.
“This event is not just about celebration but also about reflection,” Akinloye stated in his keynote address. “We are here to honor the strength, resilience, and progress of our communities. The local government serves as the backbone of this community – ensuring safety, providing quality education, and amplifying the voices of our people. Your daily efforts contribute immensely to making Eredo a vibrant place.”
He further highlighted the achievements of Oluwanisola Community Development Association, Iraye Oke, and Hilltop CDA, Kula Nla, Odomola, which were recognized as the best CDAs in Lagos State in 2021 and 2024. “We are proud of these milestones,” he said. “As we honor projects that have shaped our community, we acknowledge that more work lies ahead. Together, we will tackle challenges, push for progress, and ensure inclusivity.”
In his address, Hon. Yakub Akingbade, Chairman of the Community Development Committees (CDC) in Eredo LCDA, expressed profound appreciation for the unwavering support of the LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ismail Akinloye, in making the Community Day celebration a reality.
He further urged members of various CDCs to remain steadfast in their efforts. “As we celebrate this milestone, let us not relent in our collective drive to ensure the continuous progress of Eredo LCDA. Together, we can achieve even greater things for our communities.”
The event, aimed at fostering cohesion and inclusiveness, drew a large turnout of community leaders, residents, and public officials. It also featured presentation of awards to deserving members of the community whose immense contributions to progress shone brightly in the LCDA.
Bello Bamidele, Chairman of Giwa Road CDA, Imokun, lauded the initiative as groundbreaking. “This is the first of its kind in Eredo LCDA,” he noted. “The leadership of the LCDA is actively involved with the CDAs, and it’s yielding great results. Everyone is happy about it. While the government is trying, we urge them to do even more for us.”
Similarly, Omotunde Isaac, Chairman of Itesiwaju CDA, emphasized the significance of the program. “This event is historic for Eredo. While similar celebrations have been held at the state level, this is the first in Eredo LCDA. The government should continue to support the local government to empower CDAs in their developmental efforts.”
The Community Day celebration underscores the importance of grassroots participation in governance and development, as Eredo LCDA charts a path toward progress and inclusivity.
