Ex-Deputy Head Girl, Soniregun, Emerges Speaker of 5th Lagos Youth Parliament.

In a significant development underscoring the vibrant youth representation in Lagos State, Kakalistiq.com reports that Soniregun Itunuoluwa Maria, a former Deputy Head Girl of Government Senior College in Agege, has been elected as the first female Speaker of the 5th Lagos State Youth Parliament.

Soniregun’s ascendancy to the speakership position was met with widespread acclaim, particularly considering her remarkable academic background and community engagement. Hailing from the same constituency as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, Soniregun’s election is no doubt an exemplary coincidence.

In her acceptance speech, Speaker Soniregun emphasized the importance of providing a platform for the voices of young people from all constituencies. She stressed the need for youth to gain experience and learn from diverse perspectives to contribute meaningfully to societal development.

Inaugurating the 5th Assembly of the Lagos Youth Parliament, the Lagos State government reiterated its commitment to prioritizing youth-oriented programs and initiatives. Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlede, the Commissioner of Youths and Social Development, delivered an impassioned speech underscoring the importance of the event in shaping future leaders. Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Pharm (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu, urged the newly inaugurated Assembly members to seize the opportunity to initiate transformative programs for youth development. She emphasized the importance of utilizing the platform offered by the Youth Assembly to add value to the lives of millions of youths residing in Lagos State.
