kakalistiq.com reports that the Federation of Epe Division Students Association (FEDSA) has marked its first anniversary under the dynamic leadership of Comrade Ibrahim Adesanya with a remarkable account of stewardship, showcasing tangible impacts across educational, social, and developmental spheres within the division.
Since assuming office on February 17, 2024, Comrade Adesanya and his team have implemented a series of transformative initiatives aimed at enhancing student welfare, promoting capacity building, fostering community engagement, and driving youth inclusivity across the Epe Division.
The administration’s advocacy efforts resulted in bursary and scholarship awards for over 400 indigent students from Ikosi-Ejinrin, Ibeju Lekki, and Epe LGAs. In addition, more than 500 primary and secondary school students received essential writing materials. An inter-LG/LCDA essay competition was also introduced, encouraging academic excellence with cash prizes for the top three winners.
Partnering with the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, MindTheGap Foundation, and the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN Epe Branch), FEDSA launched a four-week Digital Onboarder Internship and Apprenticeship Programme. Participants gained practical skills in digital marketing, website development, and social media optimization, positioning many of them for internships and employment opportunities.
FEDSA demonstrated its commitment to community development through various initiatives, including the first annual Ramadan public lecture and Iftar, which united over 300 indigenous students. The association also spearheaded clean-up exercises at the iconic Epe Fish Sculpture and Epe Waterfront, in collaboration with the Lagos State Youth Parliament, to promote environmental sustainability.
The introduction of the Epe Division Unity Cup Football Competition provided a platform for students to cultivate sportsmanship and unity. Additionally, the distribution of food palliatives, supported by notable stakeholders such as Senator Tokunbo Abiru and other local government chairmen, provided much-needed relief to students during festive periods.
FEDSA’s proactive engagement with local organizations has fostered unity and inclusivity among students. Collaborative efforts included partnerships with NYCN branches across the Epe Division, the Epe Boys Safe Space program, and initiatives such as the ‘Pad a Girl’ campaign and the Epe Girls Explorer Space. Other collaborative events addressed issues like drug abuse, mental health awareness, and youth empowerment.
The inaugural FEDSA National Leadership Conference attracted over 350 students, providing a platform for leadership development and discourse on issues affecting the division’s youth. The conference featured notable speakers who shared insights on personal development, community service, and civic engagement. Concluding the year with the FEDSA Epic Get-Together and Hangout Party, the administration celebrated its collective achievements, highlighting the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose.
Reflecting on the achievements, Comrade Ibrahim Adesanya emphasized the importance of continuity and collective effort. “Our success this past year is a testament to the power of collaboration and commitment to service. We remain dedicated to advocating for the welfare of our students and contributing to the growth and development of Epe Division,” he said.
As FEDSA steps into its second year, the leadership has reiterated its commitment to sustaining these initiatives while exploring new avenues for student empowerment and community development. The achievements of the past year have set a strong foundation, promising even greater impacts in the future.
