Under the dynamic leadership of Hon. (Engr.) Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, Kakalistiq.com reports that the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government held a pivotal gathering with local stakeholders on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, to gather inputs for the upcoming 2024 budget.
In his opening statement, Mayor Olowa underscored the crucial role of stakeholders in grassroots development and governance at all levels. He expressed gratitude for their contributions, highlighting how their insights have shaped and fueled the execution of various projects and programs within the local government.
“We count you worthy, and today, we’ve invited you to share your yearnings and needs directly, enabling us to make adequate budgetary provisions for the seven (7) political wards comprising Ibeju-Lekki Local Government,” remarked Mayor Olowa.
Opinion leaders, including Royal Fathers, Chiefs, Baales, Political Leaders, Market Leaders, CDC/CDA Representatives, Youth Representatives, Artisans, and Farmers, voiced their commendations for the achievements of the Hon. Olowa-led Administration. They also articulated specific requests per political ward to be considered in the 2024 budget.
During the consultative forum, the Council Chair updated attendees on the current negotiations with EKEDC concerning the intermittent power supply challenges faced by the Council Area. He assured stakeholders that a lasting solution is in progress.
Addressing the issue of illegal immigration and narcotics peddling, attendees provided suggestions to address and curb these challenges effectively.
The mayor concluded the session by promising that his administration would take into account, include in the budget, and work towards realizing most, if not all, of the stakeholders’ requests next year.
The event saw the presence of key figures, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, and the Leader of the Legislative House, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, represented by Deputy Leader, Hon.
