Ikosi-Ejinrin Chairman Signs Landmark Byelaw to Boost Governance and Development.

In a decisive move to enhance governance and community development, kakalistiq.com reports that Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has officially signed the Ikosi-Ejinrin Byelaw into law.

The new legal framework, which emerged from a thorough legislative process – including a public hearing in August 2024 – introduces regulations aimed at improving public administration, maintaining social order, and boosting economic activities within the LCDA.

Speaking on the development, Abdulahmid Areh, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, described the byelaw as a “significant milestone” that reflects the council’s commitment to structured governance and sustainable growth.

“The enactment of this byelaw is a testament to the administration’s dedication to fostering a well-organized and prosperous community,” Areh stated. “It covers key areas such as sanitation, revenue generation, transportation, business operations, and market regulations, among others.”

The chairman commended the 5th Legislative House for their dedication and commitment to enacting laws that align with the aspirations of the people. He emphasized that the byelaw underscores the council’s resolve to uphold legal compliance and drive sustainable development.

Present at the signing were key government officials, including Vice Chairman Alhaji Wasiu Dehinsilu, Leader of the House Hon. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi, members of the Executive Cabinet, and Council Legal Adviser Barr. Bankole.

Hon. Owolabi, in his remarks, highlighted the rigorous legislative process undertaken to ensure the byelaw meets the highest legal standards and directly addresses the needs of Ikosi-Ejinrin residents. He urged the community to embrace the new regulations for collective progress.

With this landmark legislation, the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA takes a bold step towards structured governance, setting a precedent for effective policymaking that enhances the quality of life for its residents.
