Ikosi-Ejinrin Hosts Heartwarming Christmas Funfair, Honors Late Chairperson, Sijuade Akanke Anomo.

kakalistiq.com reports that the Ikosi-Ejinrin Local Council Development Area (LCDA), under the leadership of Executive Chairman Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, in collaboration with the Akanke Foundation, hosted its annual Christmas and New Year Funfair, a joyful celebration dedicated to children and a source of empowerment for widows and senior citizens.

The event, held amidst a festive atmosphere, was a poignant tribute to the late Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo, the visionary behind the initiative. Since its inception in 2021, the program has remained a cornerstone of the administration’s commitment to social welfare, children’s joy, and community support.

In his address, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo requested a moment of silence in honor of his late wife, describing her as the driving force behind the program. “This initiative reflects her deep love for children and her unwavering commitment to bringing joy to families during the festive season. Her legacy lives on through this event and the Akanke Foundation,” he said. Anomo also promised a more memorable funfair in the years ahead.

The program witnessed the participation of prominent figures, including Vice Chairman Alh. Wasiu Dehinsilu; Executive Director of Akanke Foundation, Ms. Tomi Adegboyega; Co-Director Miss Aishat Anomo; Supervisor for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Karewmat Hassan; APC Vice Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Mrs. Modinat Yusuf; and many others who lauded the initiative’s impact.

In her remarks, Ms. Tomi Adegboyega emphasized the foundation’s dedication to sustaining the late Mrs. Anomo’s vision. “The children’s funfair was very dear to her heart. Expanding the initiative to include cash support for widows and senior citizens reflects her generous spirit and commitment to uplifting the needy in our community,” she said.

The event featured a range of activities designed to delight children, including “pick and talk” games, train rides, bouncing castles, ice cream, popcorn, and face painting. Each widow and elderly attendee received ₦10,000 in cash support, offering relief and spreading cheer during the Yuletide season.

According to Areh AbdulHamid O., Chief Press Secretary of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, the funfair encapsulated the late Mrs. Sijuade Akanke Anomo’s enduring legacy. “Her passion for social welfare and her dedication to ensuring the happiness of children and support for the vulnerable continues to inspire the community,” he noted.

The event concluded with a renewed commitment from Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo to sustain and expand the initiative in collaboration with Akanke Foundation, ensuring that the spirit of giving and community upliftment remains alive in Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA.
