Lagos SUBEB Chairman Charts Course for Quality Education, Seeks Collaboration with Ministry.

In a proactive move aimed at enhancing education delivery in Lagos State, kakalistiq.com reports that Dr. Hakeem Shittu, the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), led Board Members and Management on a pivotal visit to the Honorable Commissioner for Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education at the State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, on Wednesday, February 21st, 2024.

During the reception, Dr. Shittu emphasized the strategic actions undertaken by the board to ensure quality education reaches the vast student population across the state. Expressing his fervent hope for the continuity of Board initiatives, particularly in driving effective teaching-learning outcomes in public primary schools, Dr. Shittu underscored the importance of collaborative efforts between the Board and the Ministry.

Reacting to the significance of the visit, Dr. Hakeem Shittu remarked, “Our visit today signifies our unwavering commitment to advancing educational standards in Lagos State. Through concerted efforts and collaboration with the Ministry, we aim to overcome challenges and ensure that every child receives a quality education, laying a strong foundation for their future.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Jamiu Ali-Balogun, the Honorable Commissioner for the Ministry of Basic & Secondary Education, commended SUBEB’s dedication to providing every school-age child with access to quality primary education. Acknowledging the sector’s challenges, Mr. Ali-Balogun stressed the necessity of inter-agency collaboration to address issues such as out-of-school children and pupil attrition due to socio-economic factors.

As both parties deliberated on strategies to sustain effective teaching and learning outcomes, the meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to synergize efforts and tackle foundational challenges in the basic education sector.
