In a groundbreaking effort to promote sustainable and healthy living through improved waste management, kakalistiq.com reports that the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Sesan Olowa, has officially launched a mobile application to streamline waste disposal services.
The app, designed for Android users, is now available on Google PlayStore and offers a more efficient way to manage waste collection across the community.
The much-anticipated mobile application for the Ibeju-Lekki Garbage Collection Tricycle, popularly known as “KekeJaja,” was introduced yesterday. The app aims to bridge gaps in waste disposal services by providing a seamless solution to residents who often face challenges with existing systems.
“We are excited to announce the launch of the KekeJaja app, a major step towards efficient waste management in our community,” Hon. Olowa stated. “This initiative ensures that residents can conveniently request waste disposal services from the comfort of their homes.”
The LG leadership also provided guidelines on how to download the KekeJaja App this:
1. Open the Google PlayStore on your Android device and search for “KekeJaja.”
2. Alternatively, you can access the app via this direct link: [KekeJaja on Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.higeneplus.higeneplus).
3. Download and install the app.
4. Sign up, register, and start requesting waste pickups with ease.
Though the app is currently only available for Android users, Hon. Olowa assured iPhone users that plans are underway to extend the service to iOS devices soon. “We are working tirelessly to make the app available for all users. I ask for a little more patience as we finalize this process,” he added.
The app has already garnered praise from key figures in the community, including Engineer Amuni, a prominent member of the Epe Division Renaissance Initiative. Expressing his support via a community WhatsApp group this morning, Amuni described the app as a forward-thinking solution to long-standing waste disposal issues.
“What the Mayor of Ibeju-Lekki has done is think outside the box to solve a major problem in our LGA,” Amuni said. “Before now, LAWMA compactors struggled to reach remote areas, and even when they did, it was often once a week. With the KekeJaja initiative, residents can now hail a waste tricycle from their homes, making waste disposal much easier. This is a commendable initiative, and I hope other local governments facing similar challenges will follow suit.”
- The new app aims to revolutionize how waste is collected in Ibeju-Lekki, ensuring timely and efficient service while reducing the environmental impact of poor waste management.
