Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, alongside members of the Executive Council, undertook a comprehensive tour of all twenty-six (26) public primary schools within the local government. The primary objective of the visit was to warmly welcome students back to school and alleviate the financial burden on parents by distributing thousands of exercise books to each student.
The visit commenced on Monday, January 15th, 2023, at Akodo Primary School, where the Council Mayor addressed students, emphasizing the ongoing construction of a perimeter fence to enhance the school’s security and create a conducive learning environment. The distribution of exercise books to all pupils at Akodo Primary School received widespread appreciation, with students and teachers expressing gratitude for the tangible contribution to educational growth within the Council Area.
Mayor Olowa’s administration has consistently supported school administrators by covering monthly running costs, a gesture lauded by the educational community. The commitment to education was further demonstrated through visits to several other schools, including Tsangaya (Almajir) Model Primary School, Orofun; R.C.M. Primary School, Orimedu; St. Peter Anglican Primary School, Magbon-Alade; Community Primary School, Iberikodo; and Faz-il-Omar Ahmadiya Primary School, Idado. The exercise book distribution initiative is set to benefit additional schools as the visit progresses.
Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa and his cabinet have played a pivotal role in fostering productive partnerships with like-minded entities, paving the way for outstanding academic performances by students within the Council Area. The Secretary, Hon. Adewale Adebanjo, who reiterated the Council’s unwavering support for education, also accompanied the Executive Chairman to the local government.
The Supervisor for Education, Hon. Sofwan Temitope Ogungbo, spearheaded the distribution initiative and highlighted other significant achievements in the realm of education. The Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Alonge Fatai, and various executive members, as well as staff from the Education Department, Library Services, and Public Affairs Unit, were also present during the visit.
