As society grapples with increasing moral decadence, kakalistiq.com reports that Hon. Olayinka Oladunjoye, the Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State at the National Population Commission (NPC), has called on mothers to strengthen their roles in building a morally upright and prosperous nation.

Speaking during a Ramadan interview, Hon. Oladunjoye emphasized that despite the rapid influence of modernity and technological advancements, mothers have the power to shape the moral compass of the younger generation. She described the home as the fundamental unit of national development, where virtues such as decency, hard work, respect, obedience, humility, and modesty are nurtured.
She cited examples from the Arab world, where modern advancements coexist with strong moral and religious values, urging mothers to avoid relinquishing their parenting responsibilities to social media and other external influences. “A mother’s role is irreplaceable, and the family remains the cornerstone of society,” she noted.
Drawing inspiration from the Holy Qur’an, she reminded Muslim mothers of their divine responsibility to instil righteous values in their children. She referenced Surah At-Tahrim (66:6): “O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones…” She further emphasized that just as restraint is observed during Ramadan, such discipline should extend beyond the holy month to ensure a continuous moral upliftment in society.
Hon. Oladunjoye urged both young and prospective mothers to embrace their vital role in shaping future generations, stressing that their commitment to proper upbringing is instrumental in fostering a peaceful and harmonious society. Quoting a hadith, she reminded mothers that “The best of you are those who are best to their families.”
