Rep. Wale Raji and Okemagba Communities Forge United Front for Development at Gala.

kakalistiq.com reports that the Okemagba Development Association (ODA) Hall in Eredo LCDA came alive on Sunday, December 15, 2024, as Rep. Wale Raji joined hands with the ODA to chart a new course for community development. The Presidential Gala, held at the iconic venue, marked a milestone in the collaborative efforts to uplift the 11 communities under the association’s umbrella.

The event, attended by dignitaries including former Lagos State First Lady Doja Otedola; Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, HRM Oba Dr. Babatunde Ogunlaja JP FMBE; the Adegbajo of Odo-Gbawojo, HRM Oba Morufdeen Adeniyi and Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ismail Akinloye, saw Rep. Raji passionately highlight the strides achieved in Eredo LCDA. In his keynote address, he emphasized the critical role of unity and purposeful leadership in driving progress.

“As representatives, our duty is to leave a legacy of impact, not personal gain,” Raji declared, eliciting applause from the audience. He outlined infrastructural developments, educational projects, and market interventions he has spearheaded, including ongoing construction of 12 classroom blocks at Pobuna Secondary School, Poka and 6 blocks of classrooms at Adeshowon Secondary School, Ilara. He also added the allocation of over 100 stalls at Mojoda Market free of charge to local traders. “This ensures our heritage remains in our hands and protects local traders from exploitative practices,” he said.

Raji also revealed ongoing and future projects, including road construction at Tolani Agbaje Street, Noforija; Alhaji Olooto Street, Iraye; the commencement of Palace road, Poka and the proposed Odo-Gbawojo road starting in 2025. He also mentioned the ongoing construction of Aladepekun and Pobo market and plans for a massive intervention at Michael Otedola Market in Odoragunshin similar to that of Ayetoro market, Epe. “Governance is about securing lives and livelihoods. By working together, we can build sustainable communities,” he added.

The lawmaker expressed appreciation for the Alara of Ilara’s donation of hectares of land for the establishment of the Federal College of Alternative and Comparative Medicine and pledged to replace the skill acquisition center relocated for the project. Addressing women’s empowerment, he promised renewed support for cooperative societies, encouraging responsible use of allocated funds.

Reacting to Raji’s presentation, Mr. Segun Osifeko, representing the ODA leadership, lauded the lawmaker’s achievements and commitment. “Rep. Wale Raji’s contributions align perfectly with our goals. His rundown of impactful projects inspires confidence,” Osifeko said. “We will continue to invite leaders like him to account for their stewardship as we work together to improve lives in our communities.”

In his response, Raji reaffirmed his readiness to partner with ODA. “I am always available for engagement. Together, as honorary members of this association, we will transform Okemagba into a beacon of progress,” he promised, assuring unwavering support for his constituents.

The event ended on a high note, with mutual pledges of collaboration to elevate the socio-economic status of the Okemagba communities. With leaders like Rep. Raji and organizations like the ODA committed to progress, the future looks promising for Eredo LCDA.
