Traffic Snarl: LG Chairman Eyes LASTMA Operational Command and Job Opportunities for Locals.

In a proactive move to address persistent traffic congestion in Ibeju Lekki Local Government, Kakalistiq.com reports that Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, the Council Chairman, is contemplating the establishment of an operational command in the area. This initiative aims to fortify strategies to alleviate time-consuming road traffic jams, a concern that has plagued the local community.

The Council Chairman discussed this potential collaboration during a meeting held on Monday, January 23rd, 2024, with Mr. Bakare Oki, the General Manager of Lagos State Transport Management Authority (LASTMA), and other top management staff. The gathering was pivotal in laying the groundwork for a strategic partnership between the local government and the transport agency.

Expressing gratitude for LASTMA’s ongoing efforts to tackle traffic gridlock exacerbated by construction activities, Hon. Olowa assured the transport agency of his administration’s unwavering support in the form of patrol and tow vehicles to aid in traffic management.

Addressing the prospect of establishing a LASTMA operational command in Ibeju Lekki, Hon. Olowa committed to providing an operational yard for erring drivers, underscoring his dedication to enhancing traffic control mechanisms for both present and future needs.

In a heartfelt plea, the Council Chairman urged LASTMA authorities to consider employment opportunities for the sons and daughters of Ibeju Lekki Local Government.
