The meeting featured active participation and vital discussions aimed at ensuring the seamless execution of the road construction project. The road, which stretches 418 meters in length and 7.3 meters in width, is designed to serve as a significant diversion to alleviate traffic congestion on the expressway and act as a feeder road for numerous streets within the community. Entirely funded by the Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, this project represents the first road construction effort in Ward R1 since the LCDA’s establishment and will be the first tarred road in the entire Itoikin Community.

Addressing the assembly, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, highlighted the importance of community engagement, especially at the grassroots level. He congratulated the residents on this significant infrastructure development and urged them to cooperate with the contractors and provide necessary support throughout the project. He emphasized the need for the contractor to source materials locally, boosting the local economy, creating job opportunities, particularly for the youth, and fostering socio-economic development.

“What we are witnessing today is a practical demonstration of our commitment to the progress of our people. Under my leadership as the Executive Chairman, and with the support of Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Kadri Hamzat, we are dedicated to making significant advancements in our community.”

“The Lagbeja Road project is part of the ‘114 Roads’ initiative and will serve as an alternative route, easing congestion and speeding up travel. After completing the Lagbeja Road in the Ejinrin district, we will move on to the Old Otta Road in the Ikosi district. This initiative aligns with our promise to enhance education, health, and infrastructure in our LCDA,” stated the chairman in an interview.

Hon. Rasheed Raji, the PDP chairmanship candidate in the last local government election, praised the Akogun Wale Raji Anomo administration for its dedication to transformative projects. Similarly, Mr. Jaiyesimi Ibraheem, APC Ward Chairman of Ward R1, expressed gratitude, noting that this is the first road construction the ward has received in its nearly 21 years of existence.

Later on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, the Executive Chairman performed the groundbreaking ceremony for the Lagbeja-Agric Road, officially signalling the start of the project. He reiterated the call for community cooperation to ensure the project’s timely completion.

As the Lagbeja-Agric Road project gets underway, the community looks forward to a new era of development and improved living standards, a testament to the hard work, dedication, and resilience of the council’s leadership and the support of its residents.
