In a swift overnight operation, kakalistiq.com reports that a joint security taskforce comprising officers from Ikosi-Ejinrin, Eredo, and Epe successfully nabbed suspected cable vandals at Okeosho Junction.
The suspects, accused of sabotaging recently restored power lines, have been handed over to the Noforija Police Station for further investigation.
The arrest comes as a major win for local authorities battling repeated attacks on critical electrical infrastructure.
In a statement released by Areh AbdulHamid, Chief Press Secretary of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, he emphasized the damaging impact of such vandalism.
“These criminals are not just stealing cables, they are stealing progress,” Areh said. “Every time they strike, communities are plunged back into darkness, undoing the hard work put into restoring power.”
Residents have been urged to stay alert and report suspicious activities to security agencies immediately. “We cannot do this alone,” the statement added. “Community vigilance is key to protecting our infrastructure and ensuring steady electricity.”
Local government leaders have reaffirmed their commitment to working with security forces to clamp down on vandalism. With public cooperation, they believe such acts of sabotage can be stopped, keeping the lights on and the community moving forward.
