Speaking exclusively to Kakalistiq Media, Mr. Hassan Mustapha Owolabi, House Leader of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA and Chairman of the Epe Division Councillors’ Forum, shared the forum’s resolve to prioritize welfare over their planned events. “We Councillors were planning for a get-together, but because of the unfortunate accident, we had to postpone it. Instead, we chose today to visit the victims and support them financially, morally, and spiritually,” he said.
Mr. Owolabi emphasized the importance of safety in public spaces. “This issue is not entirely the fault of the government. In the course of seeking our daily bread, we need to be cautious. We should avoid displaying goods on roads, highways, and walkways. The market is available for such activities. Had people not been on the roadside, the damage would have been minimal,” he stated.
The victims expressed gratitude for the Councillors’ support. Mrs. Alore Abiodun, one of the victims, appreciated both the police for their swift response and the Councillors for their care and financial assistance.
The visits underscored the unity and compassion within the Epe Division, as leaders came together to uplift their community in the wake of a heartbreaking tragedy.
