Rep. Wale Raji Visits Epe Accident Victims, Calls for Compensation, Strict Enforcement of Traffic Laws.

Wale Raji, the member representing Epe Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has called for the compensation of Epe truck accident victims as well as strict compliance to traffic laws, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents.

On Thursday 14th November 2024, Rep. Wale Raji, the Lagos State Deputy Governor Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Hon. Abiodun Tobun of the Lagos State House of Assembly Epe Constituency I, Epe LG Chairman Princess Surah Animashaun, and her Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA counterpart Hon. Wale Raji-Anomo, paid a condolence visit to one of the victims of the tragic Ayetoro Market truck accident. Earlier, the team met those on admission at the Epe General Hospital now Federal Medical Center Epe.

During an interview at the home of a grieving mother who lost her child in the accident, Rep. Raji extended his heartfelt condolences to the family. “I am deeply touched by this tragic event,” he said. “The primary purpose of governance is the security and welfare of the people, and I promise to stand by them. I pray for the repose of the lost souls.”

Acknowledging the profound pain of losing loved ones, Rep. Raji emphasized the importance of showing solidarity and support during such devastating times. Echoing the sentiments of the Deputy Governor, he assured the victims of compensation from Dangote.

Rep. Raji also highlighted the need for a thorough review of articulated truck operations on Nigerian roads. “By next Monday, I will deliver a motion targeting a review of truck operations at the House of Representatives, calling on the government to protect our citizens from needless and avoidable deaths,” he added.

Earlier, at a solemn interdenominational prayer session held in honour of the deceased at the Epe LG Secretariat, Rep. Raji reflected on the tragedy saying: “We must look into the issues that led to this tragedy. It is not enough to just hit and kill and say it is God’s will. The driver must be held responsible, and there must be compensation for the victims. We must take steps to ensure such incidents do not happen again. As measures to present reoccurrence, we need to divert these trailers, so they won’t pass through the town.”
