kakalistiq.com reports that the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA, Otunba-Akogun Wale Raji Anomo, has encouraged participants of the Lagos Boy Child Initiative (LBCI) Residential Workshop to equip themselves with essential skills, strong moral values, and a resilient mindset to navigate societal challenges and become well-rounded individuals.
Speaking at the 2025 edition of the LBCI workshop held at Lagos State Model College, Agbowa-Ikosi, Anomo emphasized the importance of mentorship, education, and character development in shaping the next generation of responsible and productive men. He urged participants to move beyond gender stereotypes in career choices while steering clear of cultism, drug abuse, and cybercrimes.
“The world is evolving, and success is no longer defined solely by academic qualifications. Hard work, commitment, resilience, and practical skills are essential for any young person who aspires to make a meaningful impact in society,” Anomo stated.
He advised the young boys to adopt a problem-solving mindset, apply SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) in addressing challenges, and remain dedicated to excellence in their pursuits.
The three-day residential workshop, themed ‘Empowering the Boy-Child to Be a Well-Rounded Individual for the Future,’ was organized by the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the rights and welfare of the boy-child, rehabilitate vulnerable boys, and provide them with educational and life-enhancing opportunities.
The event brought together 200 boys aged 13 to 17 from diverse backgrounds, including public and private schools, orphanages, correctional facilities, and technical/vocational centres. Activities at the workshop included excursions, a cooking competition, and educational sessions covering topics such as self-esteem, personal hygiene, mental health, and drug abuse prevention.
The workshop also included educational visits to key state projects, such as the Imota Rice Mill and Sonnex Plant, aimed at exposing participants to the Lagos State Government’s food security strategies and environmental sustainability initiatives.
The 2025 Lagos Boy Child Initiative officially commenced with a visit to the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, and the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Hon. Kazeem Alogba. The participants were warmly received at the Round House, Alausa Secretariat, and the Lagos State Judiciary, Ikeja.
With such impactful engagements, the LBCI workshop continues to equip young boys with the foundation they need to grow into responsible, self-sufficient, and visionary leaders.
