Chairman Hon. Sesan Olowa Steals the Show at Epe Club 70s Interactive Session, Unveils Visionary Success Stories Amidst Challenges

In a captivating interactive session organized by Club Seventies Epe, reports that the Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Engineer Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, left participants enthralled with his compelling narrative of the administration’s triumphs and strategies to overcome challenges.

The event, held on Saturday, December 30th, 2023, under the leadership of Most Distinguished President Adelaja Hassan, drew significant attention from club members, youth bodies, and key stakeholders from the Epe Division.

Tagged “An Evening with Influential Personality in Epe Division,” MD Hassan, in his engaging opening speech, revealed that the purpose of the session was to collaboratively discuss the progress and development of the Epe Division. The goal is to provide clarity on the roles of representatives, establish benchmarks, motivate them to strive harder, encourage the sharing of success stories, and openly address challenges for collective problem-solving.

Emphasizing the Club’s dedication to the developmental advancement of the Epe Division, Hassan shared that the club has formed partnerships with legislators, administrators, entrepreneurs, community leaders, and progressive individuals in the community to promote overall growth.

Hon. Olowa, recognized for his remarkable leadership, navigated the discussions with finesse, earning resounding applause, cheers, and standing ovations from the engaged audience. His storytelling journey, from an eloquent debater at Ogunmodede College Epe to becoming the Student Union Speaker at Lagos State University (LASU), unveiled a trajectory of determination and transformative governance.

Sharing insights gained from working with top federal government officials and a banking career in Abuja, Olowa’s discourse showcased commendable strides in local government administration. Inspired by the operational model of local governments in the USA, he delved into studying grassroots governance in Europe and Africa, fueled by the potential of the Ibeju-Lekki Free Trade Zone to position Epe Division as an economic powerhouse.


In recounting his political journey, Hon. Olowa highlighted strategic planning and youth mobilization via social media as key components of his successful 2021 political campaign. He emphasized the absence of pledges or financial entanglements with political leaders, attributing his victory to the right strategies and robust support from friends, associates, and party leadership.

Transitioning into governance, Hon. Olowa outlined a commitment to the Blue Ocean strategy, focusing on transformative leadership and effecting changes from the grassroots upward. Bridging the educational gap in Ibeju-Lekki, he described initiatives such as sponsoring pupils for the Federal Common Entrance Examinations and activating a weekly lecture program for science students at PAN Atlantic University as effective.

Addressing challenges posed by industrial growth, Hon. Olowa revealed plans to equip indigent people with the necessary skills, ensuring they benefit from the burgeoning industries in the area. He detailed an array of impactful programs, including the Cleaner Ibeju-Lekki Initiative, the Ibeju-Lekki Social Services Platform, and Ibeju-Lekki Traffic Watch, among others, aimed at enhancing the community’s standards of living.

Earlier in the session, Special Adviser to Club Seventies Epe, Prince Bayo Apena, urged members to prioritize personal development and proactively contribute to the community’s growth. Encouraging the elites not to be deterred by financial challenges, Prince Bayo emphasized devising strategies to garner support from sincere private citizens with similar goals.

The event climaxed with an interactive session resonating with the session’s theme, which covered a range of topics, from politics and migration to education, health, and environmental issues, providing a comprehensive overview of the administration’s strategies and plans.

It also witnessed the presentation of gifts to Hon. Sesan Olowa and Prince Bayo Apena. In a notable move, the President bestowed an honorary membership on Hon. Olowa, capping off a night of inspiration and visionary leadership.
