As Muslims across Lagos State and Nigeria gather in prayer, thanksgiving, and reflection for the Eid-il-Kabir festival, kakalistiq.com reports that the Federal Commissioner representing Lagos State at the National Population Commission (NPC), Barrister Olayinka Oladunjoye, has extended warm wishes to Muslim faithful and called on women, particularly mothers, to take the lead in ensuring a peaceful, secure, and meaningful celebration within their homes and communities.

Recognizing the deep religious significance of the festival, Barr. Oladunjoye emphasized that Eid-il-Kabir is more than a season of feasting, it is a spiritual moment grounded in obedience, sacrifice, and faith, inspired by the story of Prophet Ibrahim.
“As we mark this holy season, I urge us all, especially mothers, to reflect on the true meaning of Eid. It is a reminder that obedience to God and care for others should always guide our actions. As women, we have a special role in nurturing these values within our homes,” she said.
Drawing on her wealth of experience as a seasoned mother, a public servant, and a passionate advocate for women and children, Barr. Oladunjoye appealed to women across Lagos to remain vigilant and proactive in managing household safety during the celebration.
“Let us not allow avoidable Eid-il-Kabir: Barr. Olayinka Oladunjoye Calls on Women to Champion Safe and Meaningful Celebrations to turn moments of joy into sad stories. I call on mothers to supervise cooking activities carefully, ensure hygienic handling of meat during the slaughter of animals, and keep children away from potentially dangerous areas. Our attentiveness can save lives,” she said.
While celebrating the joy of Eid, she reminded the public, especially women, not to lose sight of those who may be struggling. “Reach out to widows, orphans, and families with less. Giving, no matter how small, reflects the true spirit of this sacred festival,” she said.
Barrister Oladunjoye called on all mothers to rise to the occasion, not only as caregivers but as protectors and moral anchors in their homes.
“Eid Mubarak to all. May Almighty Allah accept our sacrifices and grant us peace, unity, and lasting joy. Let us celebrate with care, compassion, and consciousness,” she concluded.
