kakalistiq.com reports that the Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, visited Eleko Markets (Inside and Junction) to appeal to traders on the utmost significance of relocating to the newly constructed Idi-Aba market. This move is part of the government’s responsibility to secure the lives and properties of its citizens in the wake of fatal accidents claiming lives.
Akadiri Ayorinde, Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman in a statement released on Wednesday 13th November, 2024, revealed that “The traders were enlightened on the need to move to the secured Idi-Aba market as their lives are at risk due to heavy-duty trucks conveying combustible substances along the current route.”
He noted that Hon. Olowa pleaded with the traders, offering a two-week grace period to facilitate a smooth transition. “We are giving you two weeks to put your acts together while moving to a more secure location for your commercial activities,” he assured.
In another development on Thursday, November 14th, 2024, citizens and residents of Ibeju-Agbe community gathered in large numbers to welcome Hon. Olowa and the representative of the Managing Director of the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority, Mr. Olaseni Tanko, for the flag-off of the Fire Service Station construction.
Accompanied by Vice Chairman Hon. Isiaka Yusuf Olatunji, Secretary to the Local Government Hon. Fasali Adewale Adebanjo, and the entire Executive Cabinet, Hon. Olowa expressed gratitude to Lagos Governor Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu and the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority for facilitating the project.
“The siting of the Fire Service Station will bring good tidings and attract direct investment to the land,” Hon. Olowa affirmed. He also highlighted the administration’s efforts in clearing waterways and encouraged the community to engage in the aqua-economy of fishing for economic prospects.
Mr. Olaseni Tanko assured the community, “The project will run its full course without any hindrance. We solicit your support to ensure it becomes a reality.”
Akadiri noted that the Fire Service Station in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government will be the first of its kind, handled by Talent Construction Limited, headed by Engr. Saliu Adefolawe. “With the Station in place, all fears about safety will surely be gone,” he concluded.
