The distribution, which occurred simultaneously in key areas like Ibeju-Lekki, Kosofe, Epe, Somolu, and Ikorodu, was aimed at supporting constituents, particularly the vulnerable. Speaking at his Ikorodu Constituency Office during the exercise, Senator Abiru emphasized the importance of community and generosity in challenging times.

“This event is a reflection of our shared values and commitment to uplifting many of our people who are going through tough times at this very challenging period. In alignment with my mantra of Greater Good to the Larger Number, we are ensuring, as our custom is, that no one is left behind during this festive season,” Senator Abiru stated.

The beneficiaries included diverse groups such as Christians under the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim leaders from the Leagues of Imams and Alfas, youths, women, persons living with disabilities, artisans, students, and political party members from all 98 wards in the senatorial district. “These equity, fair, and inclusive processes were followed to give a sense of belonging to all segments of our society, thereby deepening harmony and respect that bind us together as one community,” Abiru added.

Senator Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions, aligned the initiative with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s call for elected officials to provide relief to Nigerians amidst economic reforms. “This gesture is also in support of the expectations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, from all elected public officials to provide succour and comfort for our people, particularly the vulnerable members of the society,” he noted, urging constituents to support the administration’s development agenda.

The event was attended by prominent leaders, including APC State Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi and former Lagos State Deputy Governor Prince Abiodun Ogunleye. Governance Advisory Council members, such as Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun and Senator Anthony Adefuye, praised Senator Abiru’s leadership.

In their goodwill messages, party leaders commended Senator Abiru for his impactful interventions, particularly for those at the bottom of the socio-economic ladder. Other dignitaries present included Chief Imams, CAN officials, APC leaders, market executives, and representatives of youth and women groups.

Senator Abiru’s food relief initiative continues to reinforce his commitment to the welfare of Lagos East constituents, particularly during festive seasons marked by economic hardship.
