Strengthening Community Safety: A Plea to Equip Epe’s Vacant Police Building.

In an era where security concerns continue to challenge our communities, it is essential for the Epe local government administration to address the pressing need for enhanced security measures.

Specifically, urgent action needs to be taken to equip the modern police facility constructed in 2021 by the past administration of Hon. Adesanya Adedoyin. The current state of leaving this facility unoccupied poses significant structural dangers that must not be ignored.

When the previous administration took the commendable initiative to build the modern police facility constructed by Alison Kadiri Enterprises, it was a testament to their commitment to fostering a safer environment for the residents of Epe. However, the passage of two years without the facility being utilized is a missed opportunity that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of our community.

On a visit to the facility, the block of two-bedroom flat bungalow for the DPO tagged “Hon. Adedoyina Adesanya Block” and the block of five unit of one bedroom self-contained bungallow tagged “Rt. Hon. Adeyemi Ikuforiji Block” were empty as there were no furnitures and other necessary equipment sighted.

Leaving the police facility unoccupied exposes it to multiple structural dangers. Without proper utilization and maintenance, the building may fall into disrepair, rendering it less effective in serving its intended purpose. By equipping the facility the Police officers can be empowered to respond swiftly and effectively to security threats.

The Police officers also made a heartfelt appeal to authorities and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) for assistance in addressing the lack of reliable power supply, which hampers their ability to effectively discharge their duties. The officers sho spoke on the condition of anonimity emphasized the need for alternative means of power to ensure uninterrupted operations, especially during critical situations.

To the authorities entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring the safety of lives and properties in Epe, we appeal to your sense of urgency and responsibility to explore effective political and administrative options to rescue this situation by recognizing the potential consequences of leaving the police facility unoccupied and take immediate action to equip it with the necessary resources.

By doing so, they will demonstrate a commitment to prioritizing the security and well-being of the community. Equipping the modern police facility will not only enhance the safety of residents but also contribute to a sense of trust and confidence among the populace. Let us not allow this opportunity to slip away. The time for action is now.
