Kakalistiq.com reports that East Consultative Forum (ECF) leaders of Epe, in an exceptional show of gratitude, have showered encomiums on Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions for undertaking the vital initiative to alleviate the economic hardships faced by constituents in Epe Local Government.
The leaders shared their thoughts on Saturday, September 30th, 2023, as beneficiaries flocked to the Epe Liason Office at Hospital Road to receive much-needed palliatives.
Senator Abiru, affectionately known as the #DoingGood Senator, introduced the quarterly Food Packs Programme in June 2023, with the second edition aiming to assist those most affected by the removal of fuel subsidies. The program specifically targeted vulnerable groups, including widows, unemployed youth, the elderly, women, and people living with disabilities across the 98 wards within the 16 local government areas and local council development areas of the district.
This news medium reports that residents of Ikorodu, Ibeju-Lekki, Somolu, and Kosofe LGAs turned out in large numbers at collection points to receive the food packs. These packages contained essential items such as Goldenvita, Semo Vita, Garri, Pure Soya Oil, Spread (Butter), Granulated Sugar, Pasta Couscous, Pasta Macaroni, Pasta Spaghetti, Noodles Jollof, Noodles GMPS, and Amazing Day Breakfast Cereal.
Following the event, key figures in the Epe community in an interview shared their perspectives on the exercise. Hon. Segun Agbaje, Coordinator of the East Consultative Forum, Epe, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the palliative recipients. He said:
“Senator Abiru’s palliative distribution exercise is a clear demonstration of his deep commitment to the well-being of our community. It comes at a crucial time when many of our constituents are grappling with economic challenges due to the fuel subsidy removal. The initiative has brought much-needed relief to the less privileged in our district. On her part, the Former Epe LG Vice-Chairman, Hon. Kenny Kadri applauded Senator Abiru for his unwavering dedication to the well-being of the community. He said, “Senator Abiru’s Food Packs Programme is a testament to his genuine concern for the people. It provides essential relief during these trying times.”
The ECF Captain, Hon. Gbenle Aliu praised Senator Abiru’s initiative as a timely and significant step to alleviate the economic burdens faced by constituents. He stated, “Senator Abiru has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people. This palliative distribution will undoubtedly ease the hardships experienced due to the fuel subsidy removal.”
In the same vein, Hon. Saheed Rahmon, the ECF Secretary and present Secretary to the Local Government in Epe expressed gratitude for Senator Abiru’s initiative, noting that it would have a positive impact on constituents. “This exercise showcases Senator Abiru’s commitment to supporting the less privileged. It’s a commendable effort that will undoubtedly ease the financial strain on our residents,” he retorted.
Beneficiaries of the palliatives also conveyed their heartfelt appreciation for the gesture.
