Grand Foundation-Laying Ceremony Marks Revival of Odo-Noforija Central Mosque in a Historic Endeavor

The Odo-Noforija Muslim Community witnessed an awe-inspiring spectacle on Tuesday, August 15 2023 as the official foundation laying of the state-of-the-art Odo-Noforija Central Mosque took center stage. This groundbreaking event, dedicated to advancing Islamic faith and values, marks a remarkable resurgence after the venerable mosque was brought down years ago for infrastructural development – the expansion of the Epe/Ijebu-Ode Expressway.

In a vibrant display of resilience and unity, http://kakalistiq.com gathered that the community rallied together to rebuild this sacred edifice at the former Eid prayer grounds, opposite Michael Otedola College of Primary Education now LASUED, guided by the steadfast leadership of Alhaji Chief AbdulJelili Animashaun, Chairman & CEO of Al-Hujjaj International Umrah & Hajj Service Nig. Ltd.

The Foundation-Laying Ceremony, led by the indomitable Building Committee Chairman and revered religious benefactor, Alhaji Chief AbdulJelili Animashaun, was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries including His Royal Majesty, Oba Dr. Babatunde Ogunlaja JP (FMBE), the Aladeshonyion and Paramount Ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, and HRM Oba Kazeem Adeshina Salami, the Osobia of Makun-Omi. Also in attendance were the Grand Chief Imam of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Alhaji Sheikh Olaoluwa Banjo, and a host of distinguished Islamic scholars.

In a stirring address, Alhaji AbdulJelili Animashaun, commended the remarkable harmony demonstrated by the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, even though not of the Islamic faith. He underscored the Aladeshonyin’s unparalleled commitment to community development, transcending religious boundaries. Animashaun remarked, “Your actions speak volumes of a true leader, echoing the qualities of a prophet. Your devotion to the upliftment of the Islamic faith remains truly exceptional.”

Staunchly committed to propelling Islam’s reach, the esteemed travel and tour icon declared that his legacy would endure beyond him through his successors. He revealed that his divine calling to shepherd this endeavor was revealed by the Osobia of Makun-Omi Kingdom, against all odds. “Your Majesty, extending this invitation to lead the foundation laying of this mosque is a profound honor. As divine rewards pour in for everyone contributing to this noble cause, your recompense will be no exception,” he affirmed.

With enthusiasm, he assured that the mosque’s construction would proceed with alacrity, appreciating the project engineers’ meticulous groundwork. “Within two weeks, I urge the community to complete the foundation and the DPC level. I am resolute in my commitment – I pledge 1 million naira for this phase, and once we reach the DPC level, I shall remain steadfast in the project,” Animashaun pledged.

The Osobia of Makun Omi kingdom and his counterpart, the Aladeshonyin of Odo-Noforija kingdom echoed unflinching support, pledging both financial and moral backing for the successful mosque completion.

Amid the fervor, the Grand Chief Imam of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, Alhaji Olaoluwa Banjo, expressed gratitude to Allah for this auspicious opportunity, extending appreciation on behalf of the Muslim Ummah of Odo-Noforija Kingdom.

Before the ceremony culminated, attendees were treated to a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. MA Shittu Morufudeen Adeniyi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) ably represented by Alhaji Idris AbdulSalam from the department of Religious and Peace Studies, LASUED. The address, advocating for financial support to bolster Islam’s propagation, resonated deeply with the congregation, leaving an indelible impression.
